New CEO for Gundjeihmi
Mirarr and their staff are very happy to welcome Thalia van den Boogaard as the new Chief Executive Officer of Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation.
Long-standing CEO Justin O’Brien has decided to move on after more than two decades with GAC and Ms van den Boogaard has accepted the role in a permanent capacity.
Thalia brings extensive experience, having worked in a variety of regional and remote settings, including with Mutitjulu Community Aboriginal Corporation for five years. She and her young family have already settled into Jabiru life and are enjoying the change of climate and environment.
“Working for the Mirarr as they lead this transition period for the region is a challenge and honour that I am embracing” said Ms van den Boogaard.
“As Mirarr Country moves into the post-uranium mining period I look forward to being a part of a meaningful change and supporting this community to establish the future they have envisaged for so many years.”
Justin O’Brien, who began working with Gundjeihmi in 2000, will continue to support Mirarr in an advisory capacity, particularly with relation to the rehabilitation of Ranger and the protection of the Jabiluka site.
On his departure from the role of CEO Mr O’Brien said, “I am deeply and genuinely grateful for my many years of employment with the corporation. It has been a privilege to work for Mirarr. With their unswerving commitment and small team of trusted advisers, we have achieved many great things since I first joined GAC in 2000.”
